Newcastle made sure to rub salt in Arsenal's wounds after their Carabao Cup semi-final victory on Wednesday night - with posts online and chants in their stadium. Eddie Howe's side booked their place at Wembley next month after beating the Gunners 4-0 on aggregate - winning by a two-goal margin in both legs. Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon wrapped up the second-leg win for the Magpies, who will now head to Wembley for a clash against either Liverpool or Tottenham.

Shortly after their victory, Newcastle's social media account made sure to poke fun at Arsenal and, specifically, Mikel Arteta with a quick-witted post online. After defeat in the first-leg of the semi-final, Arteta bizarrely blamed the ball - manufactured by Puma, not Nike - for his side's defeat. Clearly, those complaints were not forgotten by Newcastle's social team, who posted a picture of the Carabao Cup ball, with the caption: 'The culprit'.

Newcastle booked their place in the Carabao Cup final after beating Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate. The Magpies brutally mocked Arsenal with a social media post and a number of chants. Meanwhile, as noted by Mail Sport's Craig Hope, home supporters could also be heard singing: ‘Mikel Arteta, it must be the ball’. The fun didn't stop there for Newcastle. In his post-match interview, Gordon made reference to the 'stay humble' jibe was has dominant football discourse this week.

After beating Man City 5-1 on Sunday, Arsenal fans made sure to mock their rivals and told them to 'stay humble' - a reference to Erling Haaland's jibe at Mikel Arteta earlier in the season. Teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly then added fuel to the fire as he copied the Norwegian's celebration after scoring against the reigning champions. However, on Wednesday night, their celebrations came back to bite them as Gordon made reference to it in his interview.
