There’s a whole world of secret beauty treatments in which the truly well-heeled indulge. As hair gets more sparse in some areas in midlife, so it sprouts from others - including the most high society of noses. ‘All hair has a purpose, and you need nasal hairs for trapping dust and pollutants,’ says Andi Antonio, waxing expert at Strip Hair Removal Experts in Notting Hill. ‘Removing obvious hair around the nostrils requires full training because it’s such a delicate area, and I don’t recommend you try it at home.’ She says that there’s huge demand for nose waxing from their glamorous clients, especially during the festive season. ‘First the area needs to be prepared with a little oil, and then hot wax is applied to each nostril on a stick. We stop just below half way up.’ Next, supporting the nostrils at the bridge, the sticks are pulled out one by one, and a little oil applied to ensure all the wax is removed. Is it painful? I am assured by Andi that you feel a tingling and then your nose feels ‘liberated’.
