Ahead of the biggest game for the Notre Dame football program in over a decade, the Fighting Irish's roster has been ravaged with the flu with their College Football Playoff Semifinal against Penn State on Thursday night. The outbreak is believed to be among mostly backups and special teams players, with no notable stars, such as quarterback Riley Leonard or running back Jeremiyah Love mentioned as potentially sick.

Those inside the Notre Dame locker room who have symptoms are thought to 'have it bad', per BlueandGold.com. The Fighting Irish have not commented on the situation, while DailyMail.com's request for comment from the school has not been immediately returned.

Notre Dame plays in the Orange Bowl with a berth in the national championship on the line against the Nittany Lions, with both teams having already won two postseason games. The Fighting Irish defeated Indiana and Georgia en route to the semifinals, while Penn State bested SMU and Boise State.
