The Nigerian striker required more than 10 minutes of treatment before leaving the pitch on a stretcher after colliding with the elbow of Exeter goalkeeper Joe Whitworth towards the end of the FA Cup fourth-round tie.

The Nottingham Forest boss has confirmed the 27-year-old player sustained a concussion and a broken nose.

Despite initial fears that his condition could be more serious , Nuno disclosed Awoniyi, who had scored prior to the injury, would travel back to the Midlands with the rest of the squad.

The Nigerian was taken from the pitch on a stretcher but seemed to recover as he made his way to the dressing room.
