Outrage after teens in bikinis told to 'cover up or leave' at local pool: 'Shameful treatment of young girls'

A popular community pool has come under fire after two 14-year-old girls were told to 'leave or cover up' because their swimwear allegedly made a man uncomfortable. The incident took place at Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre in New South Wales, where the girls - including the stepdaughter of the woman who raised the alarm - had gone for a casual swim.

Both teens were dressed in bikini tops made of double-layered swim fabric paired with shorts, outfits commonly seen at pools. However, their relaxing day turned sour when an older man allegedly stared at them before lodging a complaint with staff about their attire.
The woman shared the shocking ordeal in a viral post online, describing how her stepdaughter and her friend were 'humiliated': 'Two 14-year-old female friends came to enjoy some swimming fun today. 'The girls were approached by the two staff members, one of whom suggested they cover up in something from lost property. The other staff member was focused on having the girls leave entirely.'.
The teens eventually left the pool, feeling humiliated. 'They left feeling shame as they were walked out past the other swimmers after an attention-drawing back-and-forward discussion with staff elsewhere involving consultations on walkie-talkies,' she said.
