Helicopters hovered around the area and agencies that responded include the police department, Manchester Fire and Rescue, Arlington Fire and Rescue, Bennington County Sheriff’s Office, Winhall Fire and Rescue and North Shire Rescue Squad.
Snowmobiles, ATVs and trucks traveled through a plowed area to around halfway up the mountain, then need to take all-terrain vehicle snowshoes to reach the crash site, reported Bennington Banner.
Emergency responders faced ‘difficult conditions’ like ice and snow, rough terrain and cloud cover while trying to reach the crash site, according to VT Digger.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board officials are expected to visit the crash site on Friday.
The plane crashed near into Mount Equinox in Vermont, just after 9.45am on Wednesday, according to the Manchester Fire Department.
