Pringles launch new ‘mystery’ crisp flavour inspired by an iconic 90s character

Calling all crisp lovers and 90s babies – we might have found the foodie crossover you never knew you needed. Pringles just launched a brand new flavour as part of a nostalgic campaign with Nintendo’s Super Mario game. The catch? The brand hasn’t revealed what the product tastes like, leaving people to figure out the ‘mystery flavour’ for themselves.
And so far the crisps are really living up to their name, as shoppers have very different guesses. The intriguing silver tubes are currently being sold in Sainsbury’s supermarket for £2.25, and the packaging gives little away other than that it’s got something to do with the iconic 90s video game.
The game’s logo is featured on the front, along with a giant question mark. Shoppers have been rushing to try the latest offering from Pringles and work out what the flavour could be. On Instagram, @Mood4FoodUK thought the crisps tasted like ‘ketchup’ and ‘BBQ’ but ultimately admitted they were ‘stumped’ by the taste, whereas @NewFoodsUK claimed it was ‘spicy pizza’.
The heat seems to be the only thing people can definitively agree on, as in the comments, many people shared that the new Pringles were spicy. Other guesses included ‘spicy meatballs’ and ‘chilli cheese’. Not everyone was keen on the flavour though. There were a few who were outraged that the crisps weren’t mushroom flavour, as they felt this would be more appropriate.
