The latest drop of PS Plus Essential games is almost here, and though it's easy to be a little underwhelmed by the titles, we won't sniff at free games. PS Plus Essential has revealed its latest drop, and amid disappointment from players, it hasn’t done an awful lot to claw players back from their recent frustrations. January was a month of ups and downs for the service, with the PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2025 drop delivering a monster lineup filled with God of War: Ragnarok as a headliner, with Like A Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name joining it. It was a real high for the service that was primarily undermined by the PS Plus Essential January drop that came before it, which delivered a collection of games that underwhelmed. Even so, though, these games are about to jump ship, and your last chance to download them has arrived.
Following this, PS Plus has made a small step up, but a step up regardless, with its Essential February drop, delivering the middling Payday 3, along with High On Life and bizarre Pac-Man World Re-Pac. It’s a strange change and one that hasn’t exactly inspired excitement in players that have made Essential feel like something of a secondary thought to the service, which is made especially frustrating after Sony revealed its PS4 game deprioritisation for PS Plus. Even so, the games are set to drop soon, so if you’ve got your eyes on any of the three titles, your chance to bag them isn’t far off – and your chance to download last month’s titles is waning. Here’s what you need to know about the PS Plus Essential February 2025 games release time, and when the current lineup of games leaves the service.
The PS Plus Essential February 2025 games release time is set for 10am GMT / 5am EST / 2am PST on Tuesday, February 4. We know this because games arrive on the service at the same time every month, on the Tuesday after their announcement. At this point, you’ll be able to download Payday 3, High On Life, and Pac-Man World Re-Pac entirely for free to keep forever, provided that you are subscribed (and stay subscribed) to PS Plus Essential. Easy.
At the same time, though, some games are leaving the service, and though they were a little controversial when they arrived, it’s still probably a good idea to get them added to your library, in case you come around to them a little further down the line. Those games are:. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PS5). Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered (PS4). The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe (PS5 | PS4).
