RACING fans have called for Chepstow's meeting to be called off as dense fog wreaks havoc. Viewers can't see their horses or the track, while jockeys can't see the hurdles. Chepstow's blockbuster card has been cleared to go ahead as planned today, despite the track being shrouded in fog.

The course passed it's inspection this morning as heavy mist covered miles of the Welsh track. “Stewards will continue to monitor conditions as each race takes place,” reports presenter Hayley Moore at Chepstow. Jockey Gavin Sheehan, who won the first race at Chepstow on Julius Des Picton said: “It’s not ideal … you can’t see the hurdles until you are close to them!".

And many fans believe that spectators are being ripped off. While there are also serious safety concerns for riders and horses racing in close proximity. One wrote: "Its an absolute shambles. Call the meeting off, you are ripping off the on course paying punters blind with this!".

A second said: "The meeting should be abandoned, how can anyone see what's even happening? 😡". THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..
