MARCUS RASHFORD is facing a scramble to find a way out of Manchester United before Monday’s deadline. Sources close to the England forward had indicated last week he was still training hard and keen to play for the Red Devils. TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: STAY UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST MOVES FROM THE JANUARY WINDOW.
However he now knows there is no way back at Old Trafford following Ruben Amorim’s comments after the win at Fulham. And that leaves him with just six days to find a solution – or face spending the rest of the season in limbo at his boyhood club. Rashford said on December 17 he felt it is time for a fresh challenge – but six weeks on there has been no movement and he has not played a game since.
It now looks highly unlikely he will feature again after Amorim said he is not being considered because of his performances in training. The Portuguese boss even went on to say he would rather put 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital on the bench than a player who was not trying.
Yet those comments could now end up hitting United in the pocket when it comes to moving him on over the next few days. Clubs around Europe will now be hopeful they can land the 27-year-old forward on the cheap before the deadline. And they will try to capitalise on the fact there looks to be no way of patching up the differences between the pair.
