Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott's recent separation has led to a "weird" dynamic with TOWIE star Pete Wicks, a source has claimed. Sam and Zara reportedly parted ways after five years last December, with Zara believed to have moved out of the London home where she lived with the Made in Chelsea star.
Meanwhile, Sam's best friend, Pete Wicks, is thought to be dating Irish model and former Love Island star Maura Higgins, having also been linked to his Strictly Come Dancing partner Jowita Przystał. Yet it would appear that the recent revelation has led to a rather "weird" dynamic, something a source described as a "total switch-up" and a "complete role reversal".
The source told Closer magazine: "Pete could tell for a long time things just weren't the same between Sam and Zara, and Sam spoke to Pete a lot. He's his best mate and he really values his opinions on things. "Things are now a bit weird because, for a long time, Pete was the single one, so it's a total switch-up. Sam really likes Maura, though, and sees that she makes Pete happy. It's a complete role reversal.".
Sam and Zara, who were in a relationship between 2019 and 2024, first struck up a romance after Sam slid into Zara's DMs and started a conversation. Last year, however, fans voiced their concerns when the former couple didn't spend Christmas together.
In regards to the split, a source previously told the MailOnline: "Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other. But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025.".
