Neymar's return to his boyhood club Santos has triggered a frenzy of transfer activity from the Brazilian side. His homecoming was seemingly confirmed by the club's president Marcelo Teixeira on Tuesday after his £130million-per-year deal with Al-Hilal was terminated. He is said to be taking a 99 per cent pay cut.
Due to a crippling ACL injury, Neymar had played just seven times and scored one goal after joining for £78m from PSG in 2023. Now Santos appear to be accelerating their transfer moves as they return to the Brazilian top flight, having won the second division in 2024.
They have secured a six-month loan for Chelsea forward Deivid Washington, according to Diario do Peixe. The Blues signed Washington from Santos for £17m on a seven-year deal in 2023 but the 18-year-old made just three appearances last season, totalling 25 minutes, and has not featured for the first team since March.
Santos are reportedly looking to bolster their side with two other signings alongside Neymar. They are said to be in talks to sign former Liverpool star Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus. A report also claims that they have finalised a loan return for Chelsea's Deivid Washington.
Meanwhile, Globo reports that Santos are trying to sign former Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo. Arthur managed just 13 minutes on loan at Liverpool from Juventus in the 2022-23 season - off the bench against Napoli - before a training injury ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
