SCOTLAND and Italy don't share much similarities but what the pair do have in common is a underdog status at the Six Nations - the two sides to never have won one. The Scots have never finished higher than third in the standings while their Italian counterparts have held the Wooden Spoon an astonishing 18 times. That being said, there's a quiet optimism the both sides carry into this year's Six Nation.

Scotland fluctuated last time out in the championships - finished fourth with two wins - yet all of their games were decided by single-figure scores. There's been a a more pragmatic approach adopted from the flair driven style of rugby that perceives them under Gregor Townsend which has yielded results. As for Italy, the buoyancy that they left last Nations campaign with hasn't burned out yet. The Azzurri are headlined by the youthful innovation of Ange Capuozzo and Tommaso Menoncello and pose the type of rugby style that is befitting of surprise package.
