Real Madrid and Spain legend Sergio Ramos is closing in on his next move at the age of 38. The defender has enjoyed an illustrious career that has seen him win an array of trophies at both club and international level. Ramos has been a free agent since the end of last season, when his second spell at his boyhood club Sevilla finished. Now, Ramos is set for another chapter in his career as he prepares to join a Mexican club.

Ramos is set to undergo a medical, with the move being close to completion. There is no rush for a move to be finalised, with Ramos currently without a club. Real Madrid and Spain legend Sergio Ramos is set for his next move at the age of 38. Ramos has been a free agent since the end of his second spell at Sevilla last summer. As reported by Marca, Ramos is set to join Mexican club Monterrey, who are nicknamed Rayados. Ramos is currently in Spain and hasn't yet travelled to Mexico ahead of the move. Monterrey are managed by former Argentina defender Martin Demichelis, who is relishing the prospect of Ramos joining his team. Speaking at a press conference, Demichelis said: 'Can you imagine what Sergio Ramos would mean to Liga MX? It would be an honor for everyone. I hope it can come true.'.

Monterrey already have two Spanish players in their squad in Oliver Torres and Sergio Canales. Ramos commenced his club career at Sevilla before signing for Real Madrid in 2005. He remained at Real until 2021 and played 671 games for the club, scoring 101 goals. Ramos won the Champions League four times with Real, while he won LaLiga on five occasions and the Copa Del Rey twice. Ramos also had a spell at Paris Saint-Germain between 2021 and 2023, winning Ligue 1 twice.
