Shaun Murphy made a superb 147 in his Masters semi-final against Mark Allen at Alexandra Palace, for the sixth maximum break in the history of the tournament. The former world champion trailed 2-0 early in his semi-final but powered back, with the 147 putting him 4-2 ahead in the first-to-six battle.
Murphy had been close to a 147 in the last round against Neil Robertson on Thursday, but snookered himself behind the blue after potting his 15th black. “What an idiot!” he said after victory in that match. “Anywhere but there! I’d love to have another go at that one.”.
