A Supercars team has released CCTV of the moment its mule car was stolen in a brazen daylight robbery. At least two thieves drove a truck through the gates of Team18's Mount Waverley headquarters in Melbourne's east about 6.45am on Australia Day. Next they broke into the workshop through a side door, and then drove the pitstop car out of the warehouse just before 7am, followed by the truck. The team said the front gates of the complex in Mount Waverley were broken completely off during the robbery.

Mule cars are modified road cars which allow Supercar teams to complete pitstop practice at their workshops, according to Wide World of Sports. The Team18 mule car has modified wheel hubs that allow Supercars wheels to be mounted, as well as an air spike for jacks and a fuel insert. The modifications - as well as the large competing race numbers on the door -  give the car a distinctive look. 'Vision shows the thieves arriving in a truck at approximately 6.45am on Sunday morning, January 26, before they break in through the side door of the team's storage factory,' the team said in a statement.
