SHOPPERS can receive a free £10 voucher to spend before Christmas at Tesco and Asda if they are a key worker. Doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters - and even pub owners - can get their hands on the money. The initiative was launched by Hovis to help those working during the festive season with their food shop.
Key workers simply need to email hovischristmas@clarioncomms.co.uk with their name and job description. The voucher will be redeemable at some major supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, and Sainsbury's. The giveaway comes as the bread brand revealed that over half of Brits think the true meaning of Christmas is having a heated home and good health.
Spending time with friends and family and sharing food were also among the nation's top Yuletide plans. Some 49 per cent of respondents also said appreciating key workers was an important part of the festive spirit, with over half expressing gratitude for the sacrifices they make during this period.
Another 89 per cent of those surveyed added they were thankful for everything they have. Mark Brown, Chief Marketing Officer at Hovis said: "This Christmas, Brits are reflecting on what truly matters. "It's not about the mountain of presents, but the warmth of loved ones, the comfort of home, and gratitude for the everyday blessings – especially those who keep us safe and well.
“That's why we at Hovis are giving back to our holiday heroes, recognising their sacrifices with a small token of appreciation.". This comes as thousands of struggling families could get up to £600 of vouchers to spend at supermarkets including Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's this Christmas.
