SPFL Review: What Don Cowie really wants for Christmas is a cure for County's travel sickness

Some 10 months after he took charge of Ross County, first on a temporary basis, then as a permanent appointment, Don Cowie still doesn’t know what it feels like to win a league match away from home. Since he was given the reins in February, he has presided over 15 failed attempts to take all three points, the latest of which was a 3-1 defeat by Hibs at Easter Road on Saturday.
When County took an early lead through Elijah Campbell, you wondered if maybe, just maybe, this would be the day they had been waiting for. Then Dwight Gayle nodded in an equaliser just before the interval, the game changed, and County contributed to their own downfall with an error-strewn, indisciplined second-half display.
Elie Youan’s penalty and a late third by Josh Campbell enabled Hibs to gloss over a poor performance of their own and lift themselves off the bottom of the table, above their Highland opponents on goal difference. To be fair on the manager, County’s dismal away record is a sprawling sequence that long predates his tenure. His predecessor, Derek Adams, came and went without a win. And the current run, which has lasted over 15 months, started when Malky Mackay was in charge.
Ross County manager Don Cowie had another frustrating away day at Easter Road on Saturday. Midfielder Josh Campbell rounds off the scoring with a late goal in Hibs' 3-1 victory. Kacper Lopata is dejected as Ross County's winless away run is extended to 25 games.
