More than three years after bursting onto screens, Squid Game is finally returning for a second season. Streaming later this month, the Korean thriller centres around a deadly survival game in which hundreds of players compete for the chance to win a 456 billion won cash prize.

Season two will continue the story of the previous winner, Gi-hun, who returns to take revenge and put an end to the games once and for all. Squid Game became a global phenomenon when it debuted in 2021, going on to become Netflix’s most-watched series of all time.

It has since racked up more than 2.2 billion hours viewed around the world, ahead of Stranger Things 4. The series hails from Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history at the 74th Emmys by becoming the first Asian to win the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
