As 2024 drew to a close, BBC viewers were left highly emotional as they watched Strictly Come Dancing history unfold. Comedian Chris McCausland became the first ever blind contestant to win the long-running dance competition alongside his professional partner Dianne Buswell.

Appearing on Monday's instalment of This Morning, Chris spoke to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about his time in the competition. However, back last summer, before he was announced as part of the official line-up, he managed to avoid giving anything away when quizzed back then by the two hosts previously.

Playing an old clip of Chris on the sofa, the two presenters at the time addressed rumours of his Strictly stint. Back then, the 47-year-old confessed it would be so far out of his comfort zone. In the video, Chris commented: "I don't know if I'm logistically capable of doing it. It's live TV, can I be taught to do something I can't even see what it is they're trying to teach me?".

As the video drew to a close, Ben was quick to praise Chris' dance partner Dianne, who was able to train the blind comedian. Chris replied: "Incredible, but this is what winds me up. When we started it, everybody was like, 'Ah, isn't Chris amazing? How is he doing this? This is remarkable!'.

"At about six or seven shows in, it all changed to, 'How's Dianne doing this?' I thought, 'Hang on, what about me?!' Ben and Cat burst into laughter at Chris' comments, aware it was all in good humour. Speaking about the first live show, the Strictly winner confessed he was extremely scared to go on to the dancefloor. He commented: "The fear I had in that first show, I'd never experienced anything like it.
