Stuart Hogg abused me for years and got away with it – I’m fuming he gets to walk free

STUART Hogg’s domestic abuse victim wife tonight slammed the soft court sentence handed to the disgraced ex-Scotland rugby captain — as he was spared jail, unpaid work or even a fine. Mum-of-four Gillian, 38, hit out after a sheriff gave the creep 12 months’ community supervision for tormenting her for years.
His tormented wife also blasted a sheriff for saying there was “no point interrupting” his career. Gillian Hogg insisted “no sentence” would ever make up for the “heartache and pain” she suffered during the five-year campaign of abuse. But she admitted the one-year community supervision order handed to the former Scotland captain felt like “no punishment”.
In a rare move, his behaviour will be monitored remotely while he continues to pursue a lucrative playing career with Montpellier in France. But Sheriff Peter Paterson also sparked anger by saying the star could be excused from attending a “review” of the sentence on March 25.
The law chief told Jedburgh Sheriff Court: “I am going to impose a community payback order with supervision. I feel like Stuart’s had absolutely no punishment. My first thought was, is that it? It’s not enough. “There will be a review of that on the 25th March.
“As far as the order is concerned I have no doubt Mr Hogg will comply. The reason why I think a review is appropriate is that it is an unusual order. “I want to be satisfied that the order is working satisfactorily. “It may be that if I receive a satisfactory review report then we can excuse Mr Hogg’s attendance at the hearing because there is no point in interrupting his career.”.
