NINTENDO may have released a teaser for the company’s next console, but players are still desperate for more. The teaser trailer for the Switch 2 was shadow-dropped online by Nintendo, but it gave very little information on the upcoming console’s features. We saw that the Switch 2 will be larger than the original console, with a larger screen and magnetic Joy-Con. It also has a USB-C port on both the top and bottom of the console for extra charging capability, and the trailer seems to show the controller being used like a mouse.

However, there was no narration over the teaser and fans were left to speculate about what was shown in the video. The video has left many people with more questions than answers, but Nintendo plans to explain more about the console in an upcoming Direct. The Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2 will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and will give a more detailed explanation of the new console and its features.

The Direct is scheduled for the same time globally, at 6am PT / 8am ET / 2pm UK time. It has not been confirmed if we’ll see a release date or price for the Switch 2 during the Direct, though we know that the console will be released this year. This is the information fans are looking for alongside information on the new features, and potentially some launch titles. The original Nintendo Switch received a teaser trailer in October 2016, and a more detailed 40-minute Direct was shown in January 2017.

The console was then released in March 2017, so there wasn’t long between the Direct and the console’s release. If the Switch 2 follows a similar timeline, then we can expect to see the Switch 2 be released around June 2025. Fans are still saying that there is too long to wait between now and the Direct. Under the post announcing the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, many people wrote “two months…” and other messages bemoaning how long it is before the showcase.
