The Italian, 33, eventually confirmed her retirement from tennis last year after appearing on the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s list of retired players in May.

Giorgi's decision to hang up her racquet came amid claims she owed up to six months of rent at a villa in Calenzano, near Florence.

Last October, Giorgi was accused of fleeing owed rent by the disgruntled landlord of her Italian villa.

"I would like to stay there forever, but I often return to Italy, I just don't like to talk about what I do and it seems like I'm hiding.
