TESCO has made a big change to its deliveries and click and collect service, and shoppers will be delighted. The UK's biggest supermarket said it would open more same day delivery slots for households. Previously, the grocery giant offered the service from between 7pm-11pm.

That meant customers could do their online food shop earlier in the day and select a time between those hours for it to be dropped off. But now Tesco said it has brought forward the time you can have a delivery dropped at your home to as early as 1 pm.

The same goes for same-day click and collect, which has been brought forward to 12 pm, when it was previously started at 4 pm. This service will continue to end at 8pm in Tesco stores. It's worth noting this service will only be available at 400 of the supermarket's larger stores across the UK.

If you want an earlier slot you will also have to make place or amend their order by 8.45am that day via Tesco’s website or app. Tesco also charges a delivery fee for customers who make orders online. Its standard delivery charges range from £3 to £7, depending on where you live, and if you want same-day delivery, you have to pay £2.

The charges for click and collect range from nothing to £2 depending on location. Tom Denyard, online managing director at Tesco, said: “We are excited to have rolled out more same-day opportunities for customers to get an online slot, offering customers more spaces – and therefore more flexibility – than ever before.
