Just when you thought it was safe to get back to the oche, the Ally Pally wasp has returned. The insect caused havoc at Alexandra Palace last January by harrassing a number of darts stars and even stinging Luke Littler towards the end of his quarter-final PDC World Championship match against Brendan Dolan.
It then returned for more pray just days later when snooker's Masters tournament kicked off at the venue - landing on Judd Trump's back during his 6-5 defeat by Ali Carter. The beast was finally tamed when referee Rob Spencer trapped it underneath a glass before releasing the wasp away from the table.
That daring sting operation prompted sighs of relief from cuemen and darts stars alike. But it was only a reprieve as, on Monday, the Ally Pally wasp made its comeback in this year's PDC World Championship. The Ally Pally wasp makes its first appearance of this year's PDC World Championship.

The flying insect perched itself on Callan Rydz during the Englishman's 4-3 victory over Robert Owen. It settled itself in for a number of visits to the oche and even enjoyed a 180 from its oblivious host before buzzing off to cause more mayhem. Thankfully, no darts players were harmed in this visit of the Ally Pally wasp but not everyone has been so lucky.
