Michelle’s office has offered no specific explanation, while CNN reported it is down to a scheduling conflict as she remains in Hawaii, where she had been on an "extended vacation." While others have pointed to the fact that Michelle simply doesn’t want to attend due to her disdain for Trump. "There’s no overstating her feelings about [Trump]. She’s not one to plaster on a pleasant face and pretend for protocol’s sake,” a source is said to have told PEOPLE Magazine. And many point to her downturned, troubled expressions at Trump's 2017 inauguration for proof, after she famously stated of the opposition in her last convention speech in 2016: "when they go low, we go high.”.
