An "incredible" restoration wowed The Repair Shop fans on Wednesday's (29 January) episode when a treasured Welsh rugby shirt from the 1960s was brought back to life. Lloyd and Karen, who were among the guests on the BBC One show, told the story of Lloyd's father's professional rugby shirt that ran into a spot of bother after its colours bled during a well-intended wash by Karen. She had hoped to freshen it up for framing, only to leave the originally bright red jersey with a pinkish tinge and bleach spots after trying to rectify the problem.

Step in textile conservator Rebecca Bissonnet, whose expertise at The Repair Shop resulted in a remarkable transformation, leaving the couple absolutely gobsmacked. When revealed by Rebecca and fellow restorer Will Kirk, the vibrant Welsh red and brilliant white dazzled once more, reports the Express.

Karen couldn't contain her excitement, saying, "Oh my god that's amazing," while an equally impressed Lloyd remarked on the striking hue: "You know that red I was talking about? That is Welsh red!". Even Karen had to admit the shirt hadn't looked as stunning in years, adding: "It didn't even look that good before it went in the washing machine. Honestly, it did not look that good before!".

Moved by the result, both she and Lloyd were touched upon seeing the jersey, considering a mannequin display instead of the initial framing plan due to the impeccable restoration. The Repair Shop surprised a couple with a brilliant gesture when Will unveiled a glass box to house and protect their precious rugby shirt while it's displayed on a mannequin.
