Birds Of A Feather has gone down as one of the most popular shows in sitcom history after running for 12 series over a span of 30 years - with the cast having just as interesting lives off-camera as they did on-screen. The stars of the show became instantly recognisable to fans and the show's theme tune is just as memorable as the characters, which included leading ladies Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke - sisters who come together over their jailed husbands.
The Cockney sisters - Tracey Stubbs and Sharon Theodopolopodous - are left to fend for themselves when their other halves are sentenced for armed robbery and despite not getting on initially, they band together to get through it. Down and out Sharon [Pauline] moves from her Edmonton council flat to live with her sister Tracey [Linda] in her upmarket Chigwell home, which becomes the backdrop to the classic nineties sitcom.
The two women befriend their flirty neighbour Dorien Green [Lesley Joseph], who viewers discover is unhappily married and continually having affairs with younger men with disastrous results. The much loved programme originally ran from 1989 until 1998, before it was revived in 2014 for a further three series. The last episode of the show was a Christmas special aired in 2020 - but without one of the key characters.
