This Morning fans were left scratching their heads as hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley spoke with an ex-shoplifter. ITV's weekday favourite rolled out on Monday, February 3, with Ben and Cat navigating a jam-packed episode for viewers. However, it wasn't long before the audience's bemusement emerged as they welcomed Farrah McNutt, who used to be a shoplifter but now runs a flourishing business foiling felons.

Despite her laudable change of profession, Farrah divulged how she managed to commit her misdemeanours, even mentioning the time she nicked a bouncy castle from a shop. While Farrah spoke about her life transformation, Ben and Cat appeared particularly intrigued about how she stole a bouncy castle. Cat quizzed: "How did you steal a bouncy castle? That must have been a big coat.". To which Farrah responded: "No it's about the confidence of the shoplifting, I literally went to the till and said 'can I have the biggest bag you got' which at this time it was the biggest bag. I went up to the thing and walked straight.".

Ben chimed in, "So it's about confidence and front! " Nonetheless, the segment's focus on Farrah's past pilfering prompted quite the response. Wales Online reports viewers couldn't help but comment on social media platform X, with one fan questioning: "Why are they wasting time interviewing a thief?". One disgruntled viewer tweeted: "Bottom of the barrel TV this", while another chimed in with a critical comment on This Morning's editorial choices: "Giving a thief airtime now ITV - Why?!?".

A third was concerned about the message being sent, asking: "Are This Morning and Ben Shepherd promoting shoplifting? " In a similar vein of disbelief, someone else wrote: "Ok, so let's start off with the sympathy story, then the fact she shoplifted a bouncy castle is completely ok!". In spite of some negative feedback, ex-thief Farah has turned her life around and now helps shop owners safeguard their goods through her company, Catch A Thief.

Recalling her past to The Sun, she acknowledged: "When I first shoplifted it was for necessities but when there's no consequences you keep going. "People told me no one's being harmed here, there's no victims and because I was young, I wouldn’t get in trouble for it, which obviously is not true. "It is not a victimless crime because store owners lose money they need put food on the table, they may have to let staff go or even close, which has a huge impact on the community.".
