You don't need to leave the UK for a picture-postcard town nestled along the coast. Yes, the weather in Britain is miserable most of the time. But, in the summer balmy temperatures of up to 22C and clear skies can hit the county of Pembrokeshire in Wales. If you time it right, you could have a weekend of sunbathing on golden sandy beaches, swimming in crystal blue water, and soaking up the culture - all for a fraction of the price of flying abroad.
If you're searching for that real slice of paradise to truly unwind and relax, look no further than the quaint town of Tenby... Home to three beautiful beaches (North, Castle, and South) Tenby is a great place to let the kids run free while you lay back with a good book. Castle Beach, as you may have expected, is overlooked by the historic Tenby Castle - which was built by the Normans in the 12th century - and is a great spot for rock pooling. If you're feeling ultra adventurous, head to South Beach for a challenging hike or get in the water and try your hand at surfing, paddle boarding, or kayaking.
While only a small tower remains of Tenby Castle, which is almost surrounded by sea, it's a sight worth seeing and makes for an impressive Instagram picture. You can finish the day off in the Tenby Museum and Art Gallery to learn more about the town's rich history, which quite literally runs through every street. That's because most of the town walls were built in the 13th century, and still stand strong.
