West Ham technical director Tim Steidten to leave club as troubled tenure ends Tim Steidten is expected to leave his role as technical director at West Ham.
The German joined the club in the summer of 2023 to lead the club’s recruitment strategy and scouting but has failed to live up to expectations.. Steiden endured a strained relationship with both managers during the bulk of his tenure.
Asked during his press conference on Friday whether Steidten was leaving the club, Potter declined to explain the situation, saying: “Nothing to report, for me.”.
While Steidten was responsible for the signing of Mohammed Kudus, a key player for the Hammers, the recruitment of others such as Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez have been criticised both internally and externally.
Potter has since brought in his trusted transfer guru Kyle Macaulay as head of recruitment, with whom he worked with at Ostersund, Swansea, Brighton and Chelsea.
