WETHERSPOONS have announced they will be ditching a popular dish in some locations - sparking outrage among customers. The bar kings are making the major change at a number of pubs across the country. Gutted revellers will no longer be able to nab an 8oz sirloin steak.

The cut of meat comes complete with a soft drink for just £13 or £14.74 if you opt for an alcoholic beverage. However, punters at 760 other Wetherspoons boozers can still get their meaty fix. Customer Christine seethed: "Would like to know why on earth Wetherspoons have taken steaks off the menu. Travesty.".

Punter Craig was left devastated when he eyed up the menu at his local, The Samuel Peto in Folkestone, Kent. "No steaks here either," he lamented. "Evening ruined.". Customer Chris also expressed fury over the discontinued sirloin. "I was told that steak has been replaced by those new fangled burgers. Fuming," he seethed.

A spokesperson for Wetherspoon clarified: "We can confirm that the company has taken steak off the menu in approximately 40 pubs. "It is still available in 760 Wetherspoon pubs. "The chain prides itself on serving prime beef steaks, available from 11.30am daily, with full traceability from farm to fork.

"The pub ensures that all steaks are freshly cooked on-site, rather than being frozen. "Patrons have the option to order their steak anywhere from pink to well-done, or any preference in between.". The Sun Online has reached out to Wetherspoons for comment.
