Despite featuring seasoned actors and showing viewers a sunny paradise, the series failed to make an impression with viewers and critics and never quite got off the ground.
However the show, which followed the lives of wealthy expats in the fictional Spanish town of Los Barcos, ran for just one year before it was axed in 1993.
He told The Guardian back in 2011: 'It's a fantastic brand – although obviously not in the way it was first done, and I wrote the first episode so I'm allowed to say that.'.
