“Nice Try Diddy” comments are being left on advertisements and reels by thousands of social media users. After noticing this over the past couple of months, a number of social media users questioned why these comments are being made. “I'm so sick of the "Nice try Diddy" comments on Instagram, especially the ads. I WANT TO KNOW IF THE THING IS GOOD OR NOT, YOU GUYS AREN'T BEING HELPFUL”.

The trend began a long time before Sean “Diddy” Combs was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and sexual assault and other crimes as a joke on Instagram and other social media platforms, where users implied that 55-year-old is secretly behind advertisements, promotions or some trends.

This meme became popular after several individuals made the light-hearted accusation that Diddy, who has spearheaded multiple business endeavours, was secretly promoting advertisements or introducing new products without disclosing his involvement. It has evolved into a light-hearted and sardonic reaction to nearly any kind of Instagram advertisement or content that appears dubious, even if Diddy has no real link to it.

We have had similar memes in the past such as the “Thanks, Obama” line. Thanks, Obama was heavily used in 2018 as a way of users holding the 44th president of the United States accountable for a number of unfortunate events, frequently in a comical way, whether he had any connection with them or not.
