Scholes, 50, appeared on the Fan Debate on Sky as fans spoke about Myles Lewis-Skelly's imitation of Erling Haaland.
He wrote: "Surprised Paul Scholes can fit my name in his mouth alongside his daughter’s toes.".
When asked why Maupay did not get the same criticism as the Arsenal star for his antics, Scholes gave a five-word answer.
But Maupay has remained active on social media and was quick to fire back at Scholes.
