US screenstar John Capodice has died aged 83. The US Army veteran’s obituary on New Jersey’s Pizzi Funeral Home website confirms the prolific actor died on December 30. No cause of death has been revealed. ‘John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him,’ the obituary reads about the Chicago native.

After serving in Korea in the 60s, Capodice started working as a character actor in the TV and film industry at the end of the 1970s. In 1994 he appeared opposite Jim Carrey in Ace Venture: Pet Detective as a police officer and he also featured in six episodes of General Hospital from 1994 to 1996 as Carmine Cerullo.

He is also known for his appearances in Wall Street, Seinfeld, Ellen, Independence Day, and Speed over his nearly 50-year career which started with a six-episode stint as Lloyd Lord in TV drama Ryan’s Hope. Capodice has over 159 credited roles to his name, per IMDb. And in recent years he Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem as a cab driver and in the TV series Conversation with Mobster.

And he has enjoyed a lucrative theatre career as well, touring with Al Pacino on American Buffalo and appearing on Broadway with Requiem for a Heavyweight. Tributes have started to appear for the actor. ‘Rest in Peace, John Capodice. General Hospital fans will remember him as Lois’ dad, Carmine Cerullo, but I’ll remember the years when he lived near me, doted on his grandchildren, and loved to eat out at local restaurants.’ Eric Ackerman wrote on X.
