Jim Carrey, the star of films such as Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Truman Show, has opened up about a 'feud' with an A-list co-star who labelled him a 'buffoon'. The 63 year old comedian, who also played DC Comics villain The Riddler in 1995's Batman Forever, once revealed that a fellow actor was not a fan of his.

Speaking on the Norm Macdonald Live show in 2017, he recalled an encounter with Tommy Lee Jones at a restaurant. Jones, the Oscar-winning actor who also starred in Batman Forever as Two-Face, had a less than pleasant reaction when Jim approached him. "I went over, and I said, ‘Hey Tommy, how are you doing?’ and the blood just drained from his face, and he got up shaking - he must have been in mid-kill-me fantasy or something like that.".

shared Jim. He continued, "He went to hug me, and he said, ‘I hate you. I really don’t like you'. And I said, 'What’s the problem?' and pulled up a chair, which probably wasn’t smart.". Jones then told him: "I cannot sanction your buffoonery". According to Ladbible, this incident happened a day before they shot a crucial scene for the film. Reflecting on the situation during the Norm Macdonald Live chat, Jim speculated: "I was the star and that was the problem. He's a phenomenal actor, though. I still love him.".

Jim's recent work includes playing villain Dr Robotnik in Sonic. Despite previously hinting at retirement, Carrey is set to reprise his role in the upcoming 2024 film, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. In a chat with Variety, he explained why he decided to continue playing the character.
