Hollywood actor Andrew Scott has shared a harrowing tale of being struck down with a kidney stone at the Screen Actors Guild Awards five years ago in Los Angeles. The Irish actor, 48, was attending the prestigious event when he suddenly found himself "writhing in agony" and had to be whisked away to hospital. While reminiscing on the red carpet at this year's awards, Scott revealed that he was left doubled over in pain by the condition. "I was beside Phoebe [Waller-Bridge], and Laura Dern had just won Best Supporting Actress [for Marriage Story], and we were standing up," he remembered.

He went on to describe the excruciating pain of having a kidney stone. "I don't know if anyone has ever experienced having a kidney stone before, but it sends you... the pain is so immediate. I was in the back [of the room] writhing around in agony." The actor then disclosed that paramedics had to rush him from backstage to the hospital, a moment not caught during the live SAG Awards ceremony.

When probed about what happened next, Scott joked: "That's too much. People don't need to know about that. It was grisly." Scott was in the running for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for his role in Netflix's Ripley. He faced stiff competition from Javier Bardem, Colin Farrell, Richard Gadd, and Kevin Kline, but ultimately lost out to Farrell for his performance in The Penguin.

In related news, Timothee Chalamet expressed his desire to be considered among "the greats" as he accepted his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award on Sunday evening. The actor, 29, candidly admitted that it would've been "classy" to understate the sweat and tears he invested in portraying Bob Dylan in 'A Complete Unknown', not to mention downplaying the significance of snagging the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award. Yet, he openly acknowledged how he had "poured everything" into the role.

While accepting the accolade at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, he confessed: "Oh boy. I was not expecting this at all, truly." He began his speech by expressing gratitude towards his mother: "I'll start by thanking my mother, who I'm here with tonight. She has been working at actors' equity for 40 years.

"I'll quickly run through this. I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much it means to me, but the truth is, this was five-and-a-half years of my life, I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan, a true American hero. It was the honour of a lifetime, playing him.".
