The photos taken of the celebrities walking up the staircase leading into the museum in elaborate outfits draws the attention of the world for that evening. The theme for this year's gala is 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' with every chair or committee member being Black except for Anna Wintour, who has the lead chairperson for the event since the 1990s. Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams are the other chairs for the event. Notable names also on the committee include Usher, Regina King, and Audra McDonald.

Several sports stars including Angel Reese and Simone Biles will be involved with the MET Gala. The annual night in fashion takes place on May 5 from New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Reese has been known for her pregame outfits and has been spotted at multiple fashion award shows over the last few months. Biles' fashion away from gymnastics has recently seen her embracing her NFL WAG era. The hosting committee has not been part of the MET Gala for several years but was revived as part of this year's theme.

The MET Gala is known as one of the biggest nights in fashion of every year emanating from Manhattan's Upper East Side down the iconic Fifth Avenue. The gala serves primarily as a fundraiser for the museum's Costume Institute, with it doubling as the opening for the departments yearly fashion exhibition. The event consistently brings in eight-figure sums for the institute with large donations from the celebrities attending.

What do the celebrities get in return for the large donations? The massive amount of press from the cameras capturing their every move and being considered among the elite to draw an invitation is prize enough. The event has a strict no-phones policy once inside, meaning details are limited once inside the museum, outside of getting a look at the exhibition. One detail known this year is the meal provided to the attendees will be overseen by celebrity chef Kwame Onwuachi, who competed on 'Top Chef' and now owns Afro-Caribbean restaurants Tatiana in New York City and Dogon in Washington DC.
