Iconic A-list actress Angelina Jolie has opened up in an emotional reveal, sharing how she was reduced to tears while facing one of her biggest fears on the set of her new film. The 49-year-old Hollywood megastar took on the role of famed opera icon Maria Callas, confronting her dread of singing for a role in front of the camera.

Recounting her poignant experience with singing in the film, she shared with Hello! magazine: "(Director Pablo Larrain) took me seriously as a singer, which was very moving to me. He said: 'Take a deep breath and then start to make sounds' - and I started crying," adding that it reflects how deeply we can bury our emotions. However, this daunting challenge turned into a love affair with opera.

She is now urging people to have a go at it themselves, saying: "I would encourage every single person to take an opera class.". Revealing the profound impact of liberating one's voice, she continued: "Once you sing a little bit and somebody says to you: 'Now give everything you've got in your body as loud as you can possibly do it, with all the emotion that you carry inside yourself', it's very therapeutic," reports the Express.

On a personal note, she expressed how her six kids originally showed pride in their mum's endeavours, later turning into authentic admiration as they witnessed her vocal abilities improve. Angelina Jolie's illustrious career, spanning over four decades, took off in 1995 with her role in the cult classic Hackers. She went on to bag numerous acting roles and reached a career high when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 for Girl, Interrupted, which is still celebrated as one of her finest performances to this day.
