Arsenal closed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to four points by beating Tottenham 2-1 in the north London derby. Spurs took the lead after 25 minutes on Wednesday night when Heung-min Son’s deflected strike against the run of play found its way past David Raya.

The Gunners hit back, though, through an own goal from Dominic Solanke, forced by Gabriel, and Leandro Trossard’s strike before half-time. The win means Arsenal are now four points off league leaders Liverpool, but Arne Slot’s side still have a game in hand.

Standard Sport’s Simon Collings was at the Emirates Stadium to rate the Arsenal performances. David Raya 6. Made a good save from Dejan Kulusevski, before he was beaten by a deflected strike. Dealt well with crosses into the box. Jurrien Timber 7. Overlapped and got forward when he could, even late on in the game. A steady performance from one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers.

William Saliba 7. Unlucky for Spurs’ goal as the ball deflected off him past Raya. Other than that, a solid performance and he kept Spurs’ attack quiet. Gabriel 8 | Star player. Produced a heroic tackle to stop Dominic Solanke scoring when it was 0-0. Thought he had scored from Declan Rice’s corner but it went down as an own goal. A rock at the back.

Myles Lewis-Skelly 8. The first 18-year-old to start a north London derby for Arsenal since Cesc Fabregas in 2005. Looked at home on the big stage, such a talent. Martin Odegaard 7. Full of energy and set the tempo for Arsenal, both on and off the ball. Created the second goal, but somehow missed a glorious chance to make it 3-1 late on.
