Bake Off legend hailed an ‘inspiration’ with swimsuit picture on 85th birthday

Dame Prue Leith shared a joyous photo of her birthday celebrations on Instagram and fans have said she’s an ‘inspiration’. The Great British Bake Off judge flew to Perth in Australia and fully made the most of the warmer climes. She took a dip in the inviting turquoise waters and the moment was captured in a lovely photo and posted to Instagram so she’ll always remember her 85th birthday.

To bathe in the sea, Prue wore a simple black swimsuit and to add some more glamour she chose dangly earrings. She informed her 372k followers that the location was the Royal Perth Yacht Club and described the weather as ‘warm, light breeze & sunny!’ To ensure she didn’t cause too much jealousy, Prue added: ‘Back to the Cotswolds tomorrow.’.

The glimpse into her big day on February 18 led to plenty of well-deserved compliments. ‘Inspiration right there,’ typed Belinda. DemontforHall added: ‘You look great Prue, I admire you, love to see you always so stylish on the Bake Off.’. Mamabee1234567 sweetly said they ‘love seeing you loving life!!’. Jones23marilyn called the picture ‘beautiful’ and Jrdynmyr simply said ‘Queen’.

The comments continued to flood in describing Prue as fabulous, and a vision of happiness. A second picture on the dock showed Prue in a pair of statement sunglasses, and SusieMidd28 wants a piece of the action – she asked Prue to release a range of eyewear.

Despite it looking good on her, Prue doesn’t love the ageing process and has recently said: ‘Well, I think old age stinks.’. Speaking on Loose Women, she added: ‘It takes me 10 minutes to get myself out of bed in the morning. If I don’t do the exercises I can’t move. There’s all sorts of things that are wrong with old age.

However, she also sees the positive side, which is placing less importance on other people’s opinions. ‘You know, you are very conscious that this is nearly the end, though I agree that you then decide that you’re going to make the most of it and have fun. I think what we’re all saying is that we don’t care what people think as much as we did and to be honest I don’t even really care if I’m cancelled.’.

Prue first joined the Great British Bake Off in 2017 and has judged the culinary treats every since with Paul Hollywood (aside from one). The Channel 4 show and her previous 11-year stint on The Great British Menu have made Prue a household name, but the South African restauranter and cookery writer has been a big deal in the food industry for decades.
