IT'S never too early to start thinking about your summer wardrobe. And that's especially true if you have the chance to pick up a HUGE bargain for the hotter season. So it's not surprising that one savvy mum snapped up three dresses after spotting them in the sale at her local supermarket in Carluke, Lanarkshire. The floaty linen maxi dresses boast a flattering shirred bodice and thin straps and will be perfect in the sunshine.

The best part? The woman got change from 20p for the trio of frocks. Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, which boasts 2.6million members, Gillian said: "My bargain of the day from a Tesco store in Scotland. "Summer dresses in the sale section, black dress originally £19.50 reduced to £6.00 and blue dress originally £18.00 reduced to £5.00. "But when l went to scan them at the till they were all 4p each.

"l think someone at Tesco has made a mistake when entering the prices, so l got 3 dresses for 12p.". This worked out at a saving of £56.88 in total. And social media users have been left gobsmacked by her epic sales haul. "That must be the bargain of the year so far", insisted one person. "I like the blue one, I'll have to have a look in my local ones. Well done though.". A second echoed: "Wow. That is a bargain. Not many clubcard points though, but who cares.".

A third wrote: "Well done and well done to the staff for allowing the sale. "Last year I had a dress marked as £6.00 but scanned at 4p. They got the manager over who refused the sale . She said these ‘glitches’ had to be sent back to head office.". "That's what I call a bargain", chimed in somebody else. And a fifth bargain hunter added: "Love these dresses. I’ll check my local Tesco and if they don’t have them I’ll send hubby a wee detour to Carluke on his way to the football on Wednesday lol. He’ll be delighted.".
In other shopping news, a savvy fashion fan has revealed she saves cash buying Tesco F&F clothes thanks to a little known hack - and it’s lurking in the children’s wear department. Children’s age 13-14 plain ribbed vests are flying off the shelves - but not necessarily into the wardrobes of teens. It’s actually because women have noticed that this teen size is the same as a women's small. Fashionistas have claimed that both vests share the exact same ribbed and racer style.
And not only do the juvenile tops “fit way better” according to some, they’re also a heck of a lot cheaper. While one women’s vest from the F&F range will set you back £7, a pack of two from the kids section is £5. That works out at just £2.50 per top. DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:. The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.
Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.
So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?. Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative. A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year. Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
