During Friday's edition of BBC Breakfast, presenter Charlie Stayt made a forgivable slip-up. In the midst of informing viewers about the over one thousand visually impaired individuals awaiting guide dogs, the show featured a previously recorded segment with journalist Phil Mackie discussing the pressing need for volunteer puppy raisers.

Intent on delving deeper, Charlie promised that the topic would be explored more thoroughly later in the broadcast. Naga Munchetty couldn't resist commenting: "I mean, you've got beautiful puppies doing a good thing, can't go wrong!" To which Charlie responded: "It's worth saying a little later on this morning, at 8:40, we'll be talking to guide dogs themselves-".

It wasn't long before he realised his gaffe and swiftly corrected himself, clarifying that it was, in fact, representatives from the guide dog charity they'd be interviewing. Naga ribbed him for the error, jesting: "I was going to say good luck if you're going to have a conversation with a guide dog!" Chuckling at his own mistake, Charlie quipped: "Why not try it? ! Maybe we should try it! Look, a lot of people talk to their dogs, they get enormous satisfaction from it.".

Recognising the humorous aspect but also the impracticality, Naga pointed out the slight snag in interviewing dogs directly, as they wouldn't be able to answer back, adding: "No, I don't think it would be the best interview to watch.". The banter ended with laughter between the co-hosts, with Charlie wagering: "I think it would!".
