BBC comedy praised as ‘genius series’ finally drops all episodes on Netflix

The show based on Guz Khan’s YouTube sketches began airing in 2017 and there’s since been four series of the laugh-a-minute programme.

People can currently find it on BBC iPlayer, but for those who don’t have a TV license, but do subscribe to Netflix, it’s your lucky day. The full catalogue is now on the platform for your viewing pleasure. The show, set in the Small Heath area of Birmingham, was created by Guz and Andy Milligan. It follows Mobeen (Guz), a former drug dealer who now tries to live a good life as a Muslim while raising his younger sister Aqsa (Duaa Karim) in the absence of their parents.

Once you’ve finished watching the currently available episodes, there’s no need to despair as there will be some newness coming later this year. The fifth and final series is the result of Guz, 39, hearing everyone’s complaints about the unresolved plot – series four ended on a cliffhanger with Mobeen being attacked in prison.

‘I can’t even shop at Aldi without someone popping out from behind the bread aisle and asking me when there’s going to be more Man Like Mobeen,’ he said. ‘So, for you, and only for you, here’s one, final, very last, never to be done again season of Man Like Mobeen’.

Guz, who has five children, added: ‘Please don’t make me make any more, I got loads of kids to raise and that.’. Earlier this month, Guz shared a teaser image of his character holding a gun and wrote: ‘One last ride…you can’t fight your destiny.’ He also confirmed it would be six episodes long compared to the usual four or five.

The synopsis teases that Mobeen is ‘back on the outside and reunited with the gang in Small Heath, before embarking on an epic adventure overseas, if Mobeen can get his hands on a plane ticket and a fake passport that is.’ Filming has taken place in both Coventry and Turkey.

He was flooded with over 100 comments from fans expressing their excitement for the upcoming finale.

Praise for the series has been consistent since it began. ‘Highly underrated. It’s easy to love and root for the ensemble in Man Like Mobeen. There’s comedy, there’s drama, and there’s great chemistry. A must-see,’ wrote one audience member on Rotten Tomatoes. Man Like Mobeen has an overall rating of 87% on the review website.

Guz, who’s also starred in The Gentlemen and That Christmas, has spoken about the much-needed representation the series brings. ‘If I didn’t make Man Like Mobeen and Allah hadn’t blessed it with humour, good vibes and an amazing team there would be nothing that reflected my people on British TV. Nothing,’ he wrote on X.
