The Big Issue has just published its top 100 "changemakers" for the year, featuring a diverse line-up including an inspiring 11-year-old boy and a Barry Island hospice nominated by Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones. The list celebrates activists, advocates, and community leaders who've made a noticeable impact on society, as nominated by readers. Among the honoured are individuals who've drummed up millions for good causes, extended a helping hand to those grappling with poverty, and pushed for important legal reforms.

Breaking new ground, barrister Christian Weaver fought the corner of Awaab Ishak's family during an inquest that set a new precedent in housing nationally, while Ruth Jones, acclaimed for her role in Gavin & Stacey, has also been raising the profile of children's hospice Ty Hafan in Barry Island.

Young Travis Robinson from Bradford, 11 , earned his spot after selling his toys to kick-start a food bank after being moved by a homeless local. He was nominated by magician Steven Frayne, better known as Dynamo. Other Changemakers include Maya Amangeldiyeva, who continued to run a food bank in Herne Bay after an assault and attempted arson attack; Blue Spirit Sailing, which takes young people experiencing a mental health challenge in the North East sailing; Aneysha Minocha, the inventor striving to decarbonise buildings across the world; and refugee football team Fair Shot FC.

Paul McNamee, editor of the Big Issue, has praised the 2025 Big Issue changemakers for their selfless pursuit of justice and kindness in a world that's becoming increasingly divided. He said: "This year’s list includes lawyers, inventors, entrepreneurs, footballers, sailors, singers, community leaders – from Changemakers who have changed UK law, to Changemakers who have changed things on their street corner.
