Tesco has issued a product recall notice over packs of meat after an incorrect use-by date was used. The warning relates to Tesco own-brand packs of ten cooked beef slices with a use-by date of January 24, 2025. This product, which comes in a 125g pack and costs £1.45, was labelled incorrectly - the correct use-by date is actually December 24, 2025.

This means it is unsafe to eat after this earlier date. No other use-by dates of this product are included in the recall. The supermarket said: “We are recalling a specific date code of Tesco 10 Cooked Beef Slices 125g due to the incorrect Use By date of JAN 24 printed on packs, instead of DEC 24.

“An extension of the Use by Date could pose a risk to health, if the product is kept past the correct shelf life of the product. If you have purchased the affected date code of the above product, please do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.”.

You won’t need your receipt to get a refund. If you’ve purchased this item and you’ve got concerns, you can contact Tesco on 0800 505 555. For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites. You should also notice recall notices in stores if they've pulled a product from shelves.

It comes after Tesco recalled its Tesco Finest All Butter Pastry Mince Pies because they may contain pieces of dried glue from packaging. This included the following best before dates: October 4, 2024, October 26, 2024, November 2, 2024 and November 10, 2024.
