Blake Lively watched on as her husband Ryan Reynolds poked fun at their lawsuit with Justin Baldoni on Saturday Night Live. It marked the actress' return back to the spotlight for the first time in two months and came as Deadpool star Ryan appeared on Sunday's SNL50: The Anniversary Special. He took part in a skit with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The actor, 48, stood up while in the audience alongside his 37-year-old wife. He said: "I have a question," to which they responded: "Oh Ryan Reynolds, how's it going?".

Mocking the on-going legal battle he and his wife are facing, he replied with a straight face: "Great - why, what have you heard?". His response was met with laughter by the audience before he moved on to the more topical matter at hand. Ryan then asked: "You know the materials that they made the cone heads with — are those edible?". The blunt response comes after he and Blake have been embroiled in a lawsuit with her It Ends With Us co-star. Ryan and Blake have both kept relatively quiet in public about the lawsuit which started after Blake accused Justin of attempting to run a smear campaign against her following their movie press tour. She, additionally, alleged he sexually harassed her while on set. According to the lawsuit, obtained by The Mirror, his alleged "repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behaviour" was addressed in an on-set meeting.

However, Justin denies the allegations and has since responded with a defamation lawsuit of his own in which he has accused Blake and Ryan of attempting to take over the movie's direction. Ryan and Blake's united front at the glitzy TV event was met with a mixed reaction online. One user hit out: "Desperation is showing," while another joked: " 'How sweet of SNL to try and do damage control for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively—but it won’t work.".

The appearance on Sunday saw Blake and Ryan join a host of other A-list stars at the event which was celebrating 50 years of the NBC staple. Other big names in attendance included Eddie Murphy, Kristen Wiig, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Bill Murray, Leslie Jones, David Spade and Jon Lovitz. Kim Kardashian, Cher and Tom Hanks were also among the star-studded crowd at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. Blake stunned in a glamorous silver gown with floral finish for the occasion, while Ryan opted for a stylish black tuxedo.
