The court heard the youngster lived with his mum Veronika Phillips at the time bit saw his dad on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. He was due to be returned to Veronika by 7pm but she became "concerned" after she was unable to get hold of Lee. The inquest heard she called Lee's brother, who entered the property before running out calling for help.
Paramedics arrived at around 9pm and attempted to save Timotej, who was unconscious on his bed. Tragically the schoolboy was declared dead just seven minutes later after suffering an external airway obstruction. The inquest heard that on the day of the killing, Lee had emailed his sister at around 4.28pm.
He also searched online to see if "delayed emails can be sent from an iPhone". Police were able to establish that on the day of the killing, he had sent an email to his sister at 4.28pm, and also searched online to see if 'delayed emails can be sent from an iPhone'.
Coroner Dr Catherine Mason said: “Lee Borrett carried out an intentional act with the intended action being his own death, so the appropriate conclusion is suicide.”. She said the police investigation found Lee was responsible for the death of his son, and no one else was involved.
