Bunnings shoppers have been left divided over the retailer's pet-friendly rules that allow visitors to bring their dogs in store. Triple M host Greg 'Marto' Martin has hit out at the longstanding rule, which was introduced in 2017, claiming there is no need to bring dogs into a shop.

He also slammed owners who think it is appropriate to take their four-legged friends to cafes. 'There were 12 dogs at Bunnings that I counted yesterday,' the Brisbane-based radio personality ranted. 'You don't need to take your dog to a hardware store, the dog can't help you with your screws or with timber or any plumbing fittings.'.
Marto, who was keen to push the debate, added he doesn't hate dogs and in fact has a Kelpie called Ted. However, he 'leaves him at home' when it's time to hit the shops or have lunch at a café. 'Dogs don't want to go to shops they want to go for a walk,' he said.
Triple M host Greg 'Marto' Martin says dogs shouldn't be allowed to go to Bunnings. Others reminded him some dogs are anxious and definitely do want to 'go to the shops' with their owners. 'Those aren't dogs,' he added. And many agreed with him. 'People that take dogs everywhere, cause dogs to have anxiety. Leave them in the yard protecting your house, like they're meant to,' one man said.
'It's the most socially inept thing I've witnessed in my life! Women putting their dogs in clothing or bows etc then in a car, then putting them in a trolley to walk around Bunnings? The world is broken,' one woman said. One woman added: 'I love dogs but they should be at home where they have shade food and water.'.
